To deploy Business Insights Portal, please follow these
steps:
1. Unzip the package
(OreusPDA.zip) into a new or existing destination folder (local disk on target
computer, i.e. c:\software).
2. If You didn't select "Show extracted files when complete",
browse to the destination folder. In the destination folder, browse inside
folder OreusPDA
3. Locate and run
BIPDeploy.exe with elevated permissions (right click the file and select Run as
Administrator)
4. Select installation
plan:
4.1 Select deployment
option:
- Press 1 if IIS is not
installed on target computer. Internet Information Services 8 will be installed,
along with ASP.NET 4.5 Framework
- Press 2 if You wish to deploy portal to already installed instance of
IIS.
4.1.1 Insert
administrator password
- you will be prompted to type administrator password for
server (the one you used to log in). This is needed to set Application Pool
Identity.
4.2 Select database
deployment option:
- Press 1 to deploy
databases to new instance of SQL Server Express. This portal uses databases to
store application settings and document repository
- Press 2 to deploy
databases to existing instance of SQL Server Express. You will be prompted to
enter SQL Server instance name (i.e. SQLEXPRESS)
- Press 3 if You wish not to use local databases and use remote databases
instead. You will be promped to enter Server name and
SQL Server instance name (i.e. Server name: SHAREPOINT, SQL Server instance
name: SQLEXPRESS)
NOTE: Portal Deployment
Application will automatically detect host platform, and will use appropriate
version(s) of installation packages.
IMPORTANT: Installation
assumes that You have read and agreed to End-User Licnse Agreement(s) of the included software distribution
packages, found in a document EULA.txt.
Installation will now
begin and no more input will be required from the user. You will be able to
observe installation progress, and it will take some time to complete, depending
on the computer and internet connection speed.
All or some of the
following steps (depending on options) will be executed:
- Internet Information
Services installation (optional)
- Microsoft® Deploy 3.5
installation
- Microsoft® SQL Server
Express 2012® installation (optional)
- Deployment of the
application databases to Microsoft SQL Server Express 2012®
(optional)
- Portal deployment to
the IIS instance. Portal will be deployed to location http://[server]/BIP.
Location on the file system will be
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\BIP.
d) Post deployment
actions
In Internet Explorer (or
any other internet browser) navigate to http://['localhost' or server name]/BIP. On the first use only,
You will be navigated to the page Admin.aspx where You
will find various options for the deployed portal.
Following tests need to
be marked as passed ('OK') in order to use Busines
Insights Portal:
- File write test - tests the write
access to the web.config file
- SQL server connectivity test - tests
the access to the designated SQL Server
- SQL database connectivity test - tests
the access to the designated SQL Server database
In the section SQL
Connection info You can configurate database options: Server name, Server instance
name, Database name, Usage of the integrated security (if unchecked, You will
also be required to enter administrator username and password). This section
will be pre-populated with the options You have
selected at the beginnig of the installation process.
To test SQL Connection Info, click the button "Test", and the result need to be
"OK". If not, please review the provided information and change it
accordingly.
In the Repository
section, you can test for existance of Repository
Administrator, or create one if needed. At least one Repository Administrator is
required for this portal.
In the respective
sections You can insert locations for the Master
Catalog and Default Control Panel Location. You can test inserted locations by
clicking the buttons "Test". These locations will be
pre-populated.
The last action you need
to perform is inserting the license key provided. Insert license key and press
"Validate", and you will be presented with the validation
outcome.
Upon passing all above
mentioned tests and settings (all of the panels need to me marked with "OK"),
please click the button "Start application" at the bottom of the page. If button
is disabled and cannot be clicked, please review information on every panel on
the page, and correct it if
needed.
